The history of the pilgrimage in Maria Schmolln stretches back more than 260 years. Pilgrims make their way to the pilgrimage church to lay their concerns before Mary, Mother of God, especially in the months of May and October.
However, Maria Schmolln is also a holiday and leisure resort offering a wide range of sports and leisure activities. You can choose from walking and hiking trails, mountain bike routes, a solar-heated open-air swimming pool, tennis courts, and asphalt curling alleys, as well as opportunities for horse riding, carriage rides, golf, and fishing.
You’ll find plenty of cultural and culinary interest at the Sollingerhof farmers' museum and the Kulturwanderweg (cultural hiking trail), as well as at quaint inns and cider taverns.
